Sobremesa
In Spanish, sobremesa describes the lingering moments after a meal, when conversation flows and time slows. It’s a fitting name for this Guatemalan glassware collective, where craft and community come together. Founded in 1976 in Xela, the cooperative began with 40 artisans, a small loan, and a single kiln – driven by a shared vision of creating jobs with a living wage, health care, and support for local families. Today, they continue to hand-blow glass from recycled materials, carrying forward that mission with the same integrity: protecting the environment, fostering community, and proving that beauty and purpose belong at every table.
